PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) – A careless driving stop in Pontotoc County led to the seizure of 1,200 pounds of marijuana, and more.
Sunday, the Mississippi Highway Patrol stopped a van for careless driving, with the driver telling troopers that he was coming from California to North Carolina to deliver medical supplies, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
A positive K9 alert led the troopers to discover 1,200 pounds of marijuana, 5,500 suspected items of drug paraphernalia, and 20 pounds of cannabis concentrate in a vault at the back of the van.
The driver is now facing charges of trafficking marijuana and distribution of paraphernalia.
The name of the driver has not been released at this time.
