A Chester man has been charged with weapons and narcotics offenses following a traffic stop in the city.
According to a post on the Chester police app by Commissioner Stephen Gretsky, officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox in the 1900 block of West Fourth Street at 1:28 a.m. on Jan. 12.
Police discovered the vehicle had an expired registration, and was suspended for insurance.
During the course of the stop, officers placed the driver, Keith Dixon, 35, into custody.
Officers recovered seven bags of marijuana, $775 and three weapons from the vehicle.
One of the weapons was an untraceable 9 mm pistol containing 19 rounds.
Dixon’s criminal history revealed that he had a prior felony conviction in 2010 that prohibited him from possessing firearms.
Dixon was charged with narcotics offenses and firearms violations, with bail set at 10% of $250,000. Unable to post bail, he was taken to Delaware County prison to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 24.
