I live in a legal state but there will not be any dispensaries until January of 2025. I sleep like a baby when I have a good indica cultivar but ran out and haven’t gotten a good nights sleep in a week. My neck normally doesn’t give me any trouble and it kept me awake most of last night. Tylenol PM has a limited effect and the gummies they sell with .03% THC from hemp do nothing.
I know this isn’t a scientific answer backed by research but I believe that cannabis is the best thing to induce sleep and tame my anxiety. Ironically I take something for anxiety that works to some extent but cannabis is better and doesn’t have the side effects.
I’m very curious about the use of CBD oils to help with sleep. I mentioned CBD to my neurologist and although he didn’t discourage me from trying it he said there is no clinical data to support it. I’m going to try it soon.
Wow i disagree with your viewpoint totally about having to use more . This is definitely not the case for me , as i don't yawn and rarely feel tired . I have to stay up really late into the morning to get any yawns and feel the slightest bit tired, also people yawning does not trigger me into to doing the same . But all i have to do is smoke an Indica with Linalool and Nerolidol and i'm yawning my head off and have a really deep sleep. So maybe the saying horses for courses applies here. To add to this i can never really smoke Sativa as it elevates my heart rate and gives me anxiety which i get normally just from social situations .
I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma 7years ago- a terminal blood cancer and went through stem cell and chemotherapy. A couple months later the cancer returned with a vengeance. I was suggested to try some cannabis oil to help clear the cancer once more. I started with a small amount of THC until I was able to take a gram a day for 60-90 days. I was totally “stoned “for that time. I am now cancer free and take a maintenance. I now take a maintenance dose of around 40mgs At bed time. I sleep so well and have for this time. Thankful to God and THC and Rick Simpson oil. I now make my own and feel great daily. I’m 75 years old and probably wouldn’t be here without the oil!!! I take the oil in a capsule form – THC is great when taken properly. I’ve never smoked cannabis and it isn’t helpful for dealing with cancer to my knowledge!

With all due respect for Dr. Walker, he's an expert in his field and a superb scientist, but cannabis is a completely different substance that has not been properly studied and there's no way anyone could draw concrete conclussions based on some findings that may or may not paint no more than 10% of the picture. THC & CBD are just two of thousands of molecules inside that plant and those are working in conjcuntions with all kinds of different things as well as receptors in our body. On top od that, cannabis has been used as a medicine for thousands of years, and it seems like our ancestors knew sooo much more about natural remedies than we do now despite all of our technological advancement. If oue scientist want to believe that they have these things figured out and know everythinf about the effects of these plants, I'd highly suggest sending them on a one month trip to the Amazon jungles with the indigenous tribes and just observe the level of understanding of nature they possess that we cannot even fathom yet alone comprehend the science behind it. If cannabis works for you and it relieves negative symptoms, or it helps with managing other conditions or even if it just brings simple joy in your day-to-day life, it's pointless to come to the scientists for an opinion on that. As long as you can objectively weight out the cost/benefits (and every single thing on this planet has positives and negatives), and you can determine that you get a net-benefit from it, as well as understand how best to use it, cannabis is an incredible plant that helps thousands of people for thousands of different purposes
So many comments on this video pointing out how cannabis helps them with their problems, failing to recognize that it's a band-aid solution that will temporarily relieve symptoms, but won't fix the underlying issues causing your problems, and will actually create new problems for you with constant use. Plus the fact that you have to use more and more of it to receive the same effect as tolerance builds up.
Should not be dependent on anything. It is good to be aware of things that help. Possible reduction of grey matter is serious. I think once in a while is better.
From experience both chronically using and abstaining, I'd say it is awful to use as a sleep aid. When using chronically, it can truly avert productivity and positive mood. However, for an occasional use, I believe it can be utilized for spiritual and psychological purposes. That said, after listening to Huberman's extensive podcast episode covering the research data, I do not advocate for abuse, chronic use, or passively using. Like psychedelics, I believe it is something that can be experimented with for intermittent periods, if at all, and then put to rest until next time.
I have insomnia every month 10 to 7 days before my period, i'm active all day, sleep 3/4 hours and i'm up again. No alcohol, i workout at the gym, clean diet..but i still can't manage my insomnia those days, only with the right mix of CBD and THC i can sleep deeply. Only side effect is that I sleep 10h 😂 but wow i wake up fresh, brand new.
After 11 years smoking THC-heavy weed and now quitting for 9 days… The REM rebound is insane. Im getting 5-10 memorable dreams every night, much deeper sleep, and waking feeling more rested and less resentful. That’s not even to mention the other physical and social benefits of quitting. Don’t think I’ll ever go back to daily use.
As a person who suffers with chronic insomnia and generalized anxiety disorder, it’s the only thing that helps me sleep and still maintain cognitive function the next day. I’ve tried sleeping pills, trazadone, etc and they make me feel groggy the next day.

I was prescribed THC for insomnia and it helped me sleep for several more hours before wakening. When I take a break, I revert back to my pre pot days but it isn't any worse than it was before I started. As far as falling asleep, I honestly never noticed any time difference.

I'm currently seeing how and if thc can help me sleep. I live in The Netherlands so I can get 'wiet' as we call it quite readily. I have a demanding job that often leaves me thinking about it when it's time for bed, I have trouble getting to sleep which lead me to grab 3 or 4 beers in the evening. Weight is becoming an issue and the quality of the sleep isn't great. For about a week now I've been taking one puff of pure Marijuana about 2 minutes before bed and leaving out the alcohol. So far I'm actually quite happy with the results, I feel like I can let go of my work easier and just have better sleep.
Interesting about those studies.. they never get linked to the public. Like.. we get the educated guess.. and are supposed to drive on it.. thats kinda medicine.. but for those that wonder, why is this not applying to me.. its because its a handfull of studies with no a very controlled group of subjects i assume?

Using Lion's Mane extracts brings back the REM sleep….I think….at least my Fenix 5 says I get 3-4 hours REM each night (daily THC use=100-150mg). My circuitry is also not grossly normal.
I can sleep MUCH better when I pause cannabis use. I mean, starting use I sleep better, then during normal use, I tend to sleep like I would if I wouldn't use it (with reduced latency and reduced dreams of course), and as soon as I pause use, I sleep better again (with even less latency) until the body regulates itself and I sleep normally yet again. That's all I can say for me.
CBD works really well for me at night for my tinnitus. I don't think it helps me getting asleep faster but the tinnitus is gone for around 7 hours which is great to get a good night rest. I also take magnesium, L-theanine and meditate before bed, but it was not enough for the tinnitus, although it helped a lot. CBD was the one thing that made the biggest difference.
All I know is, I've smoked straight weed for 15 years daily now, minimum 3grams. 100% fall asleep easily, pass out on sofa plenty of times. I stopped about 2 years ago for 5 months amd after 2 months my dreams became insanely vivid. The thing about THC affecting REM sleep is FACTS

Cbd is a lifechanger for me. Relaxes the mind and body.

I CANNOT sleep naturally. Because I won't take medications that I will become addicted to, I smoke. My sleep is 100% improved with weed.

i've had very mixed experience with cbd. i track my sleep. for what cbd costs there are better compounds imo
