I told the vet my dog saw yesterday that I give CBD oil to my dog because my dog is inconsistent about (unwilling) to take his chewable Gabapentin for OA Grade 4 bilateral medial patellar luxation. Vet said there's not a lot of information about CBD for dogs. Wants to use Librela (expensive). (Bedinvetmab is the active ingredient in Librela™. It is classified as a monoclonal antibody, which is a lab-made protein developed to target certain parts of the body. In dogs with osteoarthritis (OA), cartilage breaks down in the joints, which causes the bones to rub together and cause pain. Bedinvetmab specifically binds to a protein messenger called nerve growth factor (NGF), which blocks its ability to communicate pain signals to the brain, thereby preventing the dog from feeling pain.
Considering cbd does nothing, even in mega doses, for me. I was very hesitant to trying it for my dog. My dogs been growing with anxiety as she ages and life events been stressing her a lot. I tried today, it was much better than I could of ever imagined. She usually anxious and whines when I leave as well pulls and gets hyped when other dogs are barking walking by. She did zero of these things and became calm. She's herself still, but she does not get to that frantic state basically caps her excitement/anxiety Im QUITE shocked by the results to be honest. NOTE shes never been crazy anxious and shes exercised a ton and trained. So we are not moving mountains here, but it just brought her down to that level to avoid anxious outbursts and getting to excited. Also important to note: This is bot from a legal dispensary in Canada is highly regulated. Not some hemp oil bs found in pet store with no telling how much cbd is in it. 20mg was given. 60 lb dog
My 12 year old lab had head tremors. With my vets knowledge we tried a CBD oil. She told me what to look for in CBD oil and said that Colorado had strict rules so we chose a company based there. The number of head tremors reduced from about 2 times a week to about once a month.
My 17 year old cat get four drops twice a day for his arthritis. It seems to be helping. Also my sons lab gets 15 drops at night to help him relax and sleep better, he is 15 years old. It works most the time.
I was a dogsitter for an epileptic dog on phenobarbitol and pottasium bromide. Pottasium bromide is a drug they don't use on humans anymore because it is so devastating. It is not less devastating in dogs. Phenobarbitol is just old fashioned sleeping pills. Both truly horrible devastating drugs. I was horrible to see a really smart nice dog ruined. I never saw him have a seizure myself. I dog think those studies were fair as they never took the dogs off the horrible medicines they were taking. I would absolutely try CBD oil on an epileptic dogs because the alternatives are totally brutal. I think the quality of the oil and how it was derived are really important. You have to experiment with dosage, but I would start low. Some herbs can be quite effective in homeopathic doses. If you are a control freak that likes to garden, there is also growing your own if you can secure the right strain of seed. Although CBD type plants are derived from hemp type cannabis, they are also selected out for high amounts of the CBD cannabanoids.
For anxiety??? Maybe it's because I have a very anxious dog but I see many many different supplements available that allegedly contain CBD for anxiety in dogs.
Our dogs vet prescribed it to our golden retriever last week for anxiety and arthritis pain. We have seen a huge improvement in her symptoms. She sleeps through the night now and is much more relaxed at night
Talked to my vet last night. The research is not deep. We are thinking of it, since Dex has idiopathic epilepsy, that are not common. Since it’s not common, and it’s triggered by infections, he has AD…doc told me, reputable provider that works with pets as well. But research a year later is still thin.
Ataxia…
Thanks, his are so rare, that I think it’s not worth it with him. He does not get meds for it
We give Brick 4 Plano Paws Hempflex treats a day for bone spurs/mobility/pain/arthritis. It seems to allow him more mobility but he still has difficulty getting up. He is a 16 year old Aussie Shepherd/Border Collie Mix. Also, have implemented Salmon into his diet with Sweet Potatoes and Kale attempting to get Omega 3 antioxidants and anti inflammatory attributes. He falls on uneven ground occasionally but, wants to go walkies any chance he can. There has been improvement since the diagnoses but like life there are good days and not so good days.
To help with calming my anxious dog I give CBD oil that is sold at one of the large pet retailers. Due to the high cost I only give it during times of extreme anxiety – like 4th of July fireworks when he thinks there is a war going on outside. It works well at calming for a few hours and I don’t notice any other symptoms, though I do only give him one dose and it is given rarely. I have noticed the large pet retailers are selling hemp calming products as well, I have not researched if hemp actually contributes to calming or if it’s more of a marketing attempt but now I am tempted to look into it.
We are in Argentina small city San Rafael, Mendoza, we do not have a neurologist vet. Rocky Balboa starting having epilepsy 2 weeks shy of 2 years old, he is going to be 5 in May. We changed 4 vets. We started cbd on November and we cut the potassium bromide, and clonazepan. He is only on phenobarbital 125 x2 times his weight 90 pounds. I give him his cbd 2 hours or more apart from the phenobarbital. He has episodes every 45 or 50 days. Today is day 46. He is more active. We have total of 7 dogs. I told our vet to look at Keppra, in case we need to add it. He didn't look at the report. Hope this helps him. I forgot I gave the cbd to my Gigi pitbull 13 years old for incontinence it made it worse. w
Problem is pet owners don’t know a reliable resource to find scientific papers. And many pet owners don’t trust vets too 😅 Your video will definitely help them doc😍

There weren't nearly enough dogs in that seizure study to make any conclusions whatsoever.

It helped my dogs shaking so much. It’s incredible.
