MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) – Republican state lawmakers will unveil their medical marijuana bill today/Monday.
It’s been months in the making, and we’ll get details at press conferences around the state – in Superior, Eau Claire, Green Bay, Milwaukee and here in Madison, where Governor Tony Evers is signaling he’d sign the bill
((“The caveat is, the bill could be filled with poison pills that I don’t like.”))
Evers and Democrats in the Legislature have called for legalized recreational use of cannabis, something opposed by Republicans even as neighboring Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota have passed laws allowing it.
((“The case is the Republicans have not seen the light on this issue.”))
Still, Evers indicates he’s likely to sign the bill if it gets to his desk. Neighboring Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota have passed laws allowing recreational use, while Iowa has a medical marijuana program.
