2 arrested for possession of more than 5 pounds of meth, marijuana

AITKIN, Minn. (Northern News Now) – Two people were arrested after authorities found more than five pounds of drugs during a search warrant.

According to the Aitkin-Itasca-Mille Lacs Violent Crimes Enforcement Team (AIM VCET), on Tuesday agents executed search warrants in Pine and St. Louis Counties as part of a controlled substance investigation.

For the last several months, AIM VCET has been investigating a 37-year-old woman from Culver, Minn.

Authorities said the woman was stopped in Pine County and search warrants were executed on the vehicle she was driving.

During that search, 4.2 pounds of meth and one pound of marijuana were seized.

AIM VCET officials said a 42-year-old man from Meadowlands, Minn. was also arrested.

The two are being held in the Pine County Jail on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Additional search warrants were then executed at the man’s residence, where a handgun and ammunition were seized.
