A Somerset man has been arrested on drug charges after a Somerset Police Department investigation.
SPD charged Christopher Ford, 39, with Trafficking in Marijuana (greater than 5 pounds); Resisting Arrest; third-degree Assault of a Police Officer; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and Menacing.
According to SPD, the incident began on March 14 when officers intercepted a package that had been mailed to Ford’s address. The package contained around 27 pounds of marijuana.
The next day, members of SPD assisted the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) at Ford’s West Limestone residence.
According to the citation, when officers attempted to detain Ford, Ford “shoulder-checked” a DEA officer in the chest.
“Officers then had to go hands-on and assist Ford down on the ground until Somerset Police Department (officers) could assist,” according to the citation.
“Ford would not give officers his hands while on the ground and kept trying to reach the front of his waist band,” the citation stated.
“Officers located Ford at the residence, where they obtained a search warrant for the property and located approximately 14 pounds of marijuana, 55 edible gummies, 32 THC cartridges and 22 containers of marijuana wax,” an SPD Facebook post stated.
SPD also found $29,000, as well as a marijuana press “that Ford advised on his own free will is what you use to make the ‘dab’ or wax,” the citation stated.
Ford was transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center, according to SPD.
