good work, building houses with it is also very good, specialy good for people with astma, because its cool in the summer and nice warm in winter. a breathing house you have then.
Looking forward to this industry taking off in Australia. We just need the government to pull their finger out to invest in a common sense product. Either that or private equity from China to get involved and steal all the profits as usual. 😉
I have a pair of hemp jeans. They are 16 yrs old. No holes. Slight fading, finally as of today. You know how many pairs of Levi's, carhart, Duluth, jeans they have out lasted?? Someone stole my hemp Hoodie 12 yrs ago. I got it back n it's like newl. I don't understand, what's thee issue?? I tell you. It's money. Big corporations like selling us cheap jeans that only last 2 years maybe. Bullshit. I believe cannabis all around , can single handedly save the world. From replacing plastics, clothes, paper, to cureing cancer. Its from God. Dupont's plastics are from hell.
Fantastic! Bring back the hemp fibre and the chunks. Durable, eco friendly and the crops help farmers with lands with less fertility, and in times of droughts.
The US at the time ruled the Phillipines which produced Manilla hemp, from a completely different plant related to the pineapple and which can be grown only in the tropics. This was much cheaper to produce than real hemp which was much stronger for rope making. However the change of ships from sail to steam and the introduction of steel ropes reduced the demand for vegetable cordage of any kind,
0:57 It's up to 6 times stronger than steel? I am sure this is true by some parameter but just word vomited is this manner is meaningless and disingenuous.
DUHHHHH ITS WAS USED TO MAKE SAILS AND THE UNIFORMS IN WORLD WAR TWO IT USED TO BE LEGAL BUT THE GOVT COULDNT MAKE MONEY ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY FOLLOW THE MONEY
Crikey. Considering the history we have been through regarding the cannabis plant over the past 60 odd years, it seems bizarre that it is now seen as a wonder plant.
The value of growing industrial hemp extends beyond its uses; the plant's ability to grow in polluted soils and capacity for scavenging heavy metal pollutants means that hemp can be grown for hempcrete on formerly industrial land as part of a reclamation or rewilding program if the hempcrete is made into sealed bricks or blocks for construction use.
Hemp is a great mop for soil. It pulls all kinds of contaminates out of the soil that could flow into waterways, so it's especially useful along the edges of ponds, lakes, rivers and the like.
Hemp seed is very beneficial for regulating bowel movements (1-2 ounces/day).
This would take plastic off the market. But it lasts so the mob running the show wont allow that to happen. There not money turning over from everything breaking .
20 years ago we had textiles from sheep, making cotton, that employed 1000's that are no longer existent When they bought in for free trade; alot off Aussie's went broke!!!!! & no longer here. Be careful, because the government will not look after their own!!!
For a country with so much marginal land – this will be an essential commodity. Let's hope the govt have the foresight to promote policies that encourage investment in the wider industrial infrastructure. It would be a shame if the end result of all this good science and engineering were simply a low-value-add industry focused on selling the basic material to offshore manufacturers.
I've worn hemp clothes, and they were very comfortable and durable. Much more durable than cotton. It can be as light as linen or as heavy as canvas, so it's very versatile. It would be great to see Australian hemp made locally into clothes.
"Not many farmers in Australia know how to grow hemp yet." Lol! Im thinking that there are more than you think and more than will admit. Any questions, just come visit the north coast emerald triangle, in the poor parts of any college town, or in the hills where old hippies are still smoking. Knowledge is there, if you know where to look.
I want this in Texas.

Does hemp really grow 6 meters high? This claimed, but the video shows the reaper cutting something just waist high!
It may help prevent the desertification in Australia and other places

Fabulous crop! Great way to possibly restore marginal land?

Funny how australians discover something that is just common thing elsewhere in the world.
One thing about growing hemp is that you don't need weedkillers. There is a reason it's called 'weed'. It grows so fast it smothers weeds.
