Too much serotonin can make anxiety worse. Usually if a person is taking something that works to add serotonin (like a ssri) it is recommended not to take supplements that boost serotonin. Serotonin syndrome is bad when it happens. So for me (just in my own experience) I have found my serotonin is just fine. Anything I take to boost it makes things worse. So I don't anymore lol.
I was going to try cbd but after thinking it was legal in my state, found out the only cbd product legal costs $2500 a month and is only available by prescription for 2 forms of retractable epilepsy.
I had my vitamin d level checked and it was low (agoraphobic) so I take that every day. My muscle fatigue and pain has diminished some.
There is some literature that shows some autistics (80% of those studied) had fewer nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.
Others have been found to have fewer noradrenaline alpha receptors.
There is a spectrum because the hyper/hypo connectivity exists in different places in different people and seem to only be a problem when certain things don't go right (pun kind of intended)
It seems that I fall on the spectrum along with those I mentioned, so I'm trying clonidine and varenicline (champix in UK, chantix in U.S.).
So far my anxiety is the lowest its ever been and I'm starting to get function back and I'm sleeping better too. I'm still in the starting dose. If things go south when the dose goes up, I'll just have to keep it at the starter dose.
If things get better. Woo hoo.
What's most important is that I make lifestyle changes to suit my autism. Maybe then I could live medication free most of the time . for now the medicine is allowing me to make changes and deal with them. Which is hard to do.
A side note: I was only able to get varenicline because I'm a smoker and on public assistance. I will try to quit smoking (because that has its benefits too) but the doc said if I quit and we find that the varenicline still helps after, he said he could explain it to insurance for approval.
Here soon I will find out if I'm fit to work again. My disability claim was denied. My "I'll do everything myself then because you don't listen" attitude has prevented a good record of my struggles.
Okay so I know I’m a lil bit late but I hope you see this and reply to me.. I also have Asperger’s and I’m currently dealing with depressive mood flows, like I never have the energy to do anything, even to get out of bed and I’m always sad because I feel like I’m worthless and I’m insecure about myself, so I wanted to fix that and I was thinking on trying out Rhodiola to boost my energy, but I wanted to know in your personal experience, which supplements do you think helped you the most? Any that you would recommend specifically? I’m trying to avoid ssri anti depressants so any and every help is appreciated! 🙂
I take these too. Six months ago I went on Prozac and it was a total disaster I went completely psychotic. Now I take a small dose of rhodiola, omegas/fish oil, and 75mg of cbd. I’m doing a lot better. Do you think the natural way is better than clinical meds?
The Ultramind Solution: A simple way to defeat depression, overcome anxiety and sharpen your mind. A good book that talks about how these supplements help people overcome their problems. I'm sharing it because it helped my panic attacks

I am wondering if CBD oil has omega 3s. I think CBD works miracles.
Thanks for the info, and the comedy sprinkled in.
Thanks for all the great information. I'm using cbd oil. It really helps me.
